Bronwen's First Word

Last night, Dan and I finally got to go on a date, alone, without the baby. Hooray! As we were getting ready, Chris was holding Bronwen and we were scurrying around the house, Fay jumped up onto the dishwasher. Before I had a chance to shoo him away, Bronwen raised her hand and reached out to Fay and said "Cat." Chris, Dan and I all looked at each other in amused surprise. We weren't sure we had heard it right, but sure enough last night Bronwen spoke her first word and it was Cat. Not really a surprising first word since those three cats have been circling her since the day she came home from the hospital, but still exciting none the less.

Ellie, your first word was dog. We were pushing you up Broadway (Manhattan) and a woman passed us with a dog. You pointed and said "dog"! We were pretty excited about that at the time. As I recall, we rushed back to Grandma and Grandpa's Riverside Dr. apartment (overlooking the Hudson River) to tell them.

Oh, that is so fantastic. I am so happy that it was Faye, too. It makes me feel all warm inside. That's right, BB, Faye may look like a turkey meatloaf, but he's really a cat.

She's obviously a genius! I can't wait to meet the little brainiac in person! Won't be long now!

Ellie, you mother's...Bronwyn's grandmother's...first words was "Tootbutter." We used to say, "Toot toot peanutbutter" when we wanted someone to move out of the way and she loved peanut butter sandwiches....Thus, typical of the synthethetic imaginative intellect she is..."Toot butter". She wanted lunch! Sounds to me that Bronwyn is taking the analytical route of her parents...skip the "Mama" and "Dada" stuff and go to the "cat"egorical facts! Such a wonder children are...each everyone so individual in his/her creation. God is good!

Ha! Tootbutter is hilarious. I will have to make fun of her! But it is very clever too.
